Hyperactivity
You
can tell that your dad is getting frustrated. You tried
to mow the lawn, but you left rows of tall grass crisscrossing
the yard, and you forgot to do the other side of the driveway
altogether. At one point your mom called out to you to ask
what you wanted for lunch, and you went to her to respond,
leaving the motor running until your brother noticed and
told your dad.
Things
are even worse with your homework. As you stare at your
math problems, you can't concentrate long enough to reach
the end of an equation. You keep jumping out of your chair
to peek at basketball scores on the television. You would
like to pull out a video game, but your mom said you had
to wait until you finish your assignment. But you are overwhelmed
with boredom. You bounce the pencil up and down on the table.
You reach for the eraser and lob it across the room into
the wastebasket. "Score!"
Then
you pull out the video game.
